We haven't banned HFCS yet - in fact, half the Senate's reelection hopes depend on it.
Sugar is a dietary problem, and I’m bad about it. But HFCS in particular seems a little city. Fructose is the form of sugar which dominates most common fruits and 50% of cane sugar. HFCS is only 55% fructose, as opposed to cane sugar which is 50% fructose. So if HFCS is so bad, one apple should screw you up as much as an unbelievable pig-out on HFCS.
The problem is sugar being so readily bioavailable as it is in so many foods, many of which I eat for too many of.
