Surely they can’t still sell Jiffy Pop... not in the microwave pop corn era.

They sure do. Advertising promises it tastes better. There's also the retro/nostalgia thing (my parents considered it over-priced and we used a sauce pan and bagged kernels).

Finally it is great for camping where microwaves are not available. It may not be a giant seller anymore, and it is no longer featured on game shows (oh, that was Jolly Time popcorn). But it is still a thing.

When I was a kid we also did the popcorn in a pot, shake it on the burner till the popping stopped...NOT the finest popcorn.

We also boiled hotdogs in water!? ain’t nothin’ in this life tastes worse than a soggy, boiled hotdog :-/
