What would things been like [in Russia] if during periods of mass arrests people had not simply sat there, paling with terror at every bang on the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but understood they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people?

The fun police. If you think of Dems as "Enthusiastic Puritans" and Republicans as "Reluctant Puritans", it all makes sense. Too bad John Candy isn't around to reprise his role in Wally World; probably would a great chance to satirize the whole thing, but probably would not be made today.

He cites the state’s own report last year which found only 1.4 percent of COVID transmissions were traced to bars and restaurants, while 74 percent were traced to the home. Other states reported similar findings. Good luck sending these patrolmen into people's homes.

How can anyone stand to live in this dystopian hellhole? I went to a brew pub last night and everything was totally normal. People were having a good time and I didn’t see a single mask. And there certainly wasn’t anyone asking for a vax passport. But, I live in Alaska, where life has been pretty much back to normal since May 2020 out where I live.
