As I understand the theory, we've been in the Current Warm Trend since around mid-19th century. (That's mid 1800's to those of you betting on the Gators tomorrow.) We all should be glad we're moving away from the Little Ice Age that went from the 1300's to 1800's. It was a period of lower crop yields, less predictable rains, and more plagues. Even worse than the prior cooling period known as the Dark Ages (roughly 300 to 900 AD). Basically, if you hate "wars for oil" imagine how much worse wars for crop land were. Actually, you don't have to imagine -- many of the atrocities we study in history occurred during the Little Ice Age from various people groups being desperate for crop land.

If we're lucky our average temps will get up to what they were during the Roman Warm Period (which ended around 300 AD) or even the Medieval Warm Period (roughly 900 to 1300 AD).

By the way, everything I just typed is how we used to talk about climate science before the 1990's when politics intervened and screwed up climate science like it does everything else.

However, winter is coming and the North Pole will not see much of the sun for about six months and will refreeze, as it ALWAYS does.

It will when the heat loss exceeds the heat gain.
