NORTH PORT, Fla — The boyfriend of missing Long Island woman Gabby Petito has been identified as a person of interest in her mysterious disappearance, police said Wednesday.
Brian Laundrie, who returned home to North Port, Fla., on his own after the couple went on a cross-country trip, has lawyered up and refused to cooperate with police.
Petito, 22, has been missing since late last month.

The latest is their physical fight and the cops separating them by where one of the lesbian couple worked. LE sent him to a nearby hotel while she spent the night in her van. Their excuse was she was in the middle of an anxiety attack.
Nope. They invented it and it has zero legal meaning. It’s a more charming word for suspect. It is almost exclusively used as weasel word for those they have formed reasonable suspicion about.
Bystanders, and people with a presence are known as witnesses or material witnesses. That term is completely undefined by the courts and DOJ. Your FBI buddies don’t know what they are talking about.
There is not a single situation described by “person of interest” that is not already fully and exclusively covered by existing legal terms.
“witnesses, bystanders, suspects, or maybe just people whose presence at or near a scene needed to be explained.”
IE.. witnesses, potential witnesses, suspects, and potential witnesses.
That doesn't mean they'll be able to find the girl, but just following his phone, and her phone, they will determine when and where they started diverging. That's where they'll look first. And that's probably how they'll trip him up. If he lies about where he was at a particular time, they will definitely turn up the heat.
