Considering that fasts for a period of days have been able to reverse type 2 diabetes, I’d say yes.
What else is going to take them 50 years to admit?

My good friend turned her type 2 around in about six months through diet change, and lost about 25 pounds.
“What else is going to take them 50 years to admit?”
This: The body is capable of healing itself.
Bkmk
Type2 Diabetis
What did her doctors say? Because it seems like most doctors will say it’s not possible. Was she taking medication?
Yes. Hopefully someday there will be a cure for T1D.
Simple. Clear the fat from yur liver and pancreas and yu can go into remission. Its all about losing weight effectively.
Remission is not cured, go back to eating the crap that made you diabetic and you will relapse.
But for a long time they didn’t admit remission was a possibility, so this is a victory for all the keto/lchf fasters who have reversed their T2 diabetes.
Well duh! I am on 3 + months with no meds and down to 6.8
CORRECT DIET!
And how do you relapse?
BAD DIET!
Through diet and exercise I drove my a1c down to 5.5. That was several years ago. I now eat and drink and do what I want, and have been for a couple years. No relapse. DMII is just not the big monster some would make it out to be.
But couldn't a person who has never had diabetes start eating like that and become diabetic? Is everyone in remission?
If you have high blood pressure, and you work and get it down, does the doctor say, "You still have high blood pressure, it's just in remission?"
Lose weight and get off soda pop and it usually goes away.
I was 8.0 then 5.5 after 3 month health kick...stopped drinking beer and switched to scotch/vodka....crept back up to 7.0....bmi of 32. 5’8, 220 lbs....gotta get back under 200, preferably 180 so I can drink again.....sigh. Nothing like an Islay nightcap
Type I diabetes (aka Juvenile Diabetes) is chronic and lifelong.
This article is about Type II diabetes (aka Lard-butt Diabetes).
“But couldn’t a person who has never had diabetes start eating like that and become diabetic?”
Yes, it happens all the time.

Diabetes Type 1 and Type 2 are completely different diseases with unrelated causes and different mechanisms of effect that result in similar symptoms.
They still have to continue with the “lifestyle changes” that brought about the cure in the first place.
