I’m amused at the criticism Eastwood draws from the left. Recently, one of the other actors in Gran Torino declared the movie “racist”. If anything, it is one of the most anti-racist movies ever made. Eastwood plays an old bigoted fellow, who through interaction with his non-white neighbors ends up sacrificing his life for them. And that’s racist?
These are likely the same people who think “Blazing Saddles” is racist.
“Blazing Saddles” was made with the express purpose of poking fun at, and ridiculing racism.
Of course, these are the same people that think the 3/5 Compromise is evidence of a racist America.
Yes, of course it’s racist! He used his non-white neighbors to attain status of hero. See? You can twist anything.
There’s racism in that movie, and that makes it racist. Says the virtue-signaling liberal simpleton. They’re either too lazy to use, or simply not capable of the second-order thinking that allows us to understand Gran Torino or Blazing Saddles. Or anticipate the unintended consequences of the stupid policies they want their politicians to enact.
