No, it’s not made up.
And I have two theories:
1) These are demonic or angelic in nature, that they are Satan’s or God’s agents.
2) That these are beings that live in 4 dimensions, unlike we who live in 3.
Both of those theories might be operative.
I think they are demonic.
To your former, if they were either Gods or Satans, they wouldnt need any artificial means of transportation.
As to your later, might be.
Whoever they are, whatever they want, humanity’s answer must be a firm and final “NO”.
Anything else, and we are courting disaster.
Or a combination of both. Angels are always portrayed as having wings, but what if the wings of the angel seen by the observer was just the visual image of the changing vibrations of the being as it moves from one dimension to another?
AFAIK - we live in the 4 dimension plan as well. Just do not have the senses to discern it.

Laz, your 1 & 2 are not mutually exclusive.
Our spirits learn this three-dimensional reality beginning at conception (Jeremiah 1:5), when God "weaves" an association between a previously-bodiless spirit entity with the newly-existing and expressing DNA+RNA code pattern that is manifest in a mother's womb, in body and blood.
Our spirits become accustomed to the inter-dimensional perturbations of the spiritual aether synchrony with our 3D body until our 3D body can no long sustain the connection, when we're said to die and leave only a shell in the 3D world.
Non-humans can sometimes animate "things" in our three-dimensional world, but are more commonly found in other dimensions. The powers and principalities, including demons, Satan, angels, Sons of God, etc., spoken of in Ephesians 6:12 intersect our 4th dimension spirit world, but are also found in other dimensions. We can affect them; they can affect us.
It cannot be over-emphasized how really important stuff happens in our spiritual dimension!
This entire UFO disclosure is certainly minimal, with our government doing its worst to refrain from making clear they've been lying (per usual) for many decades.
One of the main reasons for all this has been that disclosers, like pilots were seeing their professional careers trashed in an afternoon if they "saw something and said something." Government lies caused such untoward results. It needed to stop.
There are reasons we have a Space Force. Governments have been dealing with the fall-out of interacting with beings that manifest in other dimensions as well as ours. Some of those really don't seem to like us. They animate "people," craft, weapons, governments and forces that--at least on occasion--get kinetic and oppose us. The US, the world's primary military power, has needed to develop a force capable of "dealing with" what we've experienced going on.
Great, so now pilots won't be thrown onto the trash heap when they see things and talk to their superiors about them. Big whoop. Government is still going to say as little as possible publicly.
