Chicago Now Trying To Lure Texas Businesses
Dallas Morning News | 9/12/2021 | World Business Chicago

Posted on 09/12/2021 6:45:21 AM PDT by ken in texas

I was surprised to open today's paper and find a full-page ad from World Business Chicago, encouraging Texas businesses to move to the windy city.

The ad lists three things Chicago believes in, namely:

There is no publicly available source for the ad that I'm aware of, but will attempt to post an image of it in the thread below.

They forgot to add that you will have a place to use all the stored ammo you have.

Come for the business, stay for the shootings?

Come for the pizza, stay to get murdered.

Chicagoland area resident since 1977. I thank Almighty GOD I live in the far, far, FAR southwest suburbs and don't have to deal with that sh*t.

The ad cracks me up for its chutzpah and sheer gall. Chicago believes in “Every person’s right to vote.” Yeah, and it doesn’t matter if you are breathing or not. And Chicago protects your right to vote as many times as you want.

Chicago has the WORST and most notorious machine politics in the nation and has led the way for 150 years. It has the most corrupt political system anywhere. I note that they don’t mention clean politics, but your “right to vote.” There is a reason for that.

30. Chicago features 2 of “Food & Wine’s” Top 10 coffee shops in the U.S.

Why is anyone left in Texas at all? Two coffee shops? Since most numbered lists like this are sorted in order, that means the author considers that 70 of the reasons are even less important than two coffee shops.

Any phrase that starts “We believe...” is bound to be pure Leftist drivel, and this so-called ad is a perfect example.

************

Most people believe Chicago is a liberal s*** hole. That’s a tough hurdle for any company to overcome who might consider setting up shop there (i.e., how to persuade employees or new hires to live there).

Why is election day so close to Halloween? So the dead don’t have to wander around for long before voting in Chicago.

Chicago believes in “Every person’s right to vote.”

*************

That just screams that your legitimate vote will be negated by anyone who happens to be in the city and wants to cast a ballot.

The thing is, if you get an HONEST answer from a corporate executive on just about any issue (starting with crap like ‘commitment to diversity’), you’ll find that answer is 180 degrees different than the corporation’s public statement (perhaps except for the tribal people, but I’m even sure there).

“We believe in every person’s right to vote” as long as we get to count the ballots. /s

Your typo in the headline brings to mind a funny story.

I grew up mostly in Ithaca, NY which has a street named Texas Lane. One of my dad’s good friends had his address on his mailbox and it read “123 Taxes Lane” instead of “123 Texas Lane.” One summer day (probably around 1963, when I was 12) we were visiting them and I proudly marched up to the men drinking beer and announced “Mr. Smith, you made a mistake on your mailbox. It says ‘Taxes Lane,’ but it should say ‘Texas Lane.’” All the men laughed uproariously at the naïveté of the kid. Mr. Smith had caught another sucker.

Quick funny story—a co-worker from South Dakota was having their son recruited by a large company located in one of the medium sized third world s&^%hole northeastern cities (we have a bunch of those around here).

He was asking my advice on the area.

I told him to have his son arrive a few hours early and drive a two mile grid around the corporate offices before the interview.

The son followed my advice—and then just drove back to the airport and ghosted the interview.

Sometimes you just have to see it to understand....

Agree on the new editor. I don’t see the overall political stance of the paper changing at all.

“We need to keep dividing the country. And no, I’m not being sarcastic.”

The left and right have so little in common anymore that splitting this country in two is the best solution.
