I still support the war in Iraq.

It actually had a CHANCE of working. Just because it failed doesn’t mean it was doomed to fail. Like Biden’s pulling out of Afghanistan, HOW one does something is also important.

I think the invasion of Iraq was justified and so was trying to turn it around. At a minimum, it meant we killed an incredible number of terrorists THERE instead of waiting for them to come here. It meant we took the initiative and made them fight OUR fight, which is a good thing.

Iraq, UNLIKE AFGHANISTAN, is an actual country and the people there are capable of making rational choices.

Afghanistan? After a tour there, I concluded we couldn’t win the hearts and minds of Afghans BECAUSE MOST OF THEM DON’T HAVE HEARTS OR MINDS! We should have left Afghanistan by 2005 with the promise of blowing it to hell - WITH NUKES IF NEEDED - if we ever were bothered again.

Those of us with brains, knew that Bush refused (he even fired his top general who told him so) to bring enough troops to Iraq to occupy it. He brought just enough to over throw Saddam and the hell with the chaos that caused. The hell with all the lives lost (American and Iraqis)

F*ck GWBush, he is scum.

I can’t stand Jenna Bush. Never misses a moment to talk about who she is.

I get the feeling that GWB doesn’t have much in the way of his own ideas and doesn’t do much of his own thinking. He was following Cheney and Rumsfeld them, and he’s following someone else now.

I noticed the same thing with Rush; old Bush invited him to stay at the White House, he was in the Lincoln Bedroom and he never stopped gushing about it. This enabled him to overlook a lot of the crap both Bushes were pulling - the Souter nomination, violating his no new taxes pledge, the botched wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. While I respected Rush and realize there is no one on talk radio to take his place, his mush when it came to the Bushes was also too hard for me to take.

I am a veteran from the Vietnam era, and it took me a long time to realize what Eisenhower meant by the “Military/Industrial Complex”. I lost a few acquaintances during Vietnam, but I could always say that we were there “to stop communism”. The older I got, the more I realized that I was just as brainwashed as the liberals are today.

Yep, what was in that envelope? And what a colossal asshole. You know what the saddest part is? I’m not even surprised or shocked anymore. All the Bushes can rot in hell as far as I’m concerned right along with Mike Pence.

The one thing Bush tried to do that was even mildly conservative was trying to privatize social security.

He failed to do so, but if he had it would have been right before the housing collapse and millions would have lost thousands in their private accounts. It would have labeled him the worst president in history and put a stake thru the heart of the Republican party

I remember the 2000 election dispute. Near the end of the multi-week battle in one of the counties they were recounting votes but then put paper over the glass so the observers could not see. The observers forced themselves through the barricades and doors. It shut down the recounting and the end was shortly after. Reminded me of Jan 6th.

Bush tying the hijackers to the Jan 6th rally was despicable, his calling Trump to concede the day after the election was just as bad. I have no use for the man or family.

Bush’s creation of the DHS told me he was a big government stooge.

One other thing. In Bush’s first term, I remember leaks about how he was conducting a Bible study in the mornings. As I think about it, after his re-election, I don’t recall any new leaks and new discussions in the second term. Perhaps it was old news or was it there no further need for such studies. I don’t know.

I do know, his war in Iraq, has been disastrous for Christians in Iraq. There were over 1.4 million pre-war, and a small faction of that a few years later. I have never heard him express concern for these Christians.

I also wonder what Christ thinks of his testimony that Islam is the religion of peace?

Good point; I remember Bush was very publicly teaching Sunday School before the nomination process and party primaies in 2000; don’t know whether it was genuine or to win over Christian conservatives. I do know that the Bushes used us; John Podhoretz was a speechwriter and he was directed to write Bush’s farewell address - he said he was instructed by Bush not to put any of “that conservative junk” in the speech. Soon after, he, Barbara and the rest of the Bush family discovered their new-found love for Bill and Hillary Clinton. I really think it was under the surface all the time. If you remember when Reagan grudgingly picked HW Bush as his VP, the senior Bush rushing to repudiate his long held admiration for Planned Parenthood and support for abortion - presto, a 189 degree change in beliefs when the VP slot was dangled in front of him that occurred quicker than Instant Oatmeal. Could we trust such a man or his mediocre son? Nope.

I could not vote for Gore. Could not.

I was so pissed off when Bush Jr was selected to run against Gore. At the time, Clinton had been so bad and Gore was so much worse that any Republican could have won against Gore in a walk. We had a chance for a real conservative who would turn things around. And then they rammed the son of the failed elitist elder Bush down our throats. I couldn't understand then why the Republicans would do such a thing, but now I get it. The illusion of there being two parties has long since vanished.
