A plane was sent and the soldiers on the flight were ordered into and out of their uniforms a 1/2 dozen times during the flight over concern that it would be perceived as an American invasion.
Benghazi (IMO) was more about incompetence and keeping the administration from looking bad. Amb. Stevens was in Benghazi prepping for a Hillary victory lap in November.
The above poster is correct in pointing out that Khadaffi loyalists got the Americans out of Benghazi and Libya.
From what I’ve read Tripoli didn’t get to go till the next morning.
