FReeper John Moran, a FDNY Battalion Commander, was one of the heroes who lost his life trying to save people 20 years ago today. His brother John spoke at Concert for New York a short time later and his words inspired the song.
A couple years later I had the great honor to join some other FReepers at a NY Irish pub to meet John and join in singing the song.
My former son-in-law was aboard the USS Enterprise and heading home when we were attacked. They turned that great ship around and America began fighting back in a massive way.
Well, Mike, he didn't have the opportunity to kiss your royal Irish ass, but the mass murdering Islamofascist is today burning in hell.
