I don’t think ‘deaths’ are really pertinent
If a hospital fills up, they ship patients to other hospitals. Rinse and repeat until all the regional hospitals are impacted. Then hospitals stop all but emergency surgery and treatment. So the disease may not affect you when a wave rolls through, but the effects of it on medical availability might. That is pertinent.
Don’t go bear wrestling for a few weeks is all. Don’t fall off a mountain, and don’t get mad when your knee or hip or hernia surgery is postponed for six months because now everything is backed up.

What’s happening in Idaho, Utah, Washington and Oregon hospitals has happened in Calif for months, several waves in fact.
Being triggered by an article describing a wave hitting elsewhere in America, maybe for the first time, and a friendly ‘distance and stay safe’, isn’t rational behavior.

You should see the regional hospitals in my area:
LONG lines for testing, empty parking lots, ERs totally vacant.
Yet if you read Oregon’s ‘Breakthrough Report’ juxtaposed against the idiot OP’s article, the way they present the numbers you’d believe, well...
...just what they want us to believe.
Just yesterday I overheard a nurse telling a coworker about how the virus has run through her entire family; she was describing severe cold symptoms for her & her husband, and mild colds for the kids. Biggest gripe was loss of smell.
Remember that in Oregon healthcare workers were mandated under edict prior to dementia-in-chief’s edict to be ‘vaccinated’.
I know I’m preaching to the choir, but it begs the question:

Yep. In my area (NYC Metro), it's business as usual. Restaurants are full, people are out walking their dogs, traffic everywhere with people going about their normal business. No signs of panic anywhere. Despite the re-implemented "mask mandate" around here, you won't get hassled for not wearing one. I don't. I was in the Post Office yesterday mailing some packages and even the woman at the counter didn't have a mask on. Of course you got your sheep who will compliantly wear it (because the sign on the door says so) but you can take it off if you want.
I'm hoping people have had enough of this fear porn.

Outdoor mask mandate issued for most public outdoor settings

On Aug. 13, Governor Kate Brown and Oregon Health Authority leaders enacted an indoor masking mandate in response to surging COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Today, Governor Brown announced a new rule would extend that mask requirement to outside areas.
“The Delta variant is spreading fast and wide, throwing our state into a level of crisis we have not yet seen in the pandemic,” said Governor Brown in an Aug. 24 press release. “Cases and hospitalizations are at a record high.
Masks are a quick and simple tool we can immediately deploy to protect ourselves and our families, and quickly help stop further spread of COVID-19.”

With no masks in sight, buzzing offices and concerts drawing tens of thousands, Denmark on Friday ditches vaccine passports in nightclubs, ending its last Covid curb.
The vaccine passports were introduced in March 2021 when Copenhagen slowly started easing restrictions.
They were abolished at all venues on September 1, except in nightclubs, where they will be no longer necessary from Friday.
"We are definitely at the forefront in Denmark as we have no restrictions, and we are now on the other side of the pandemic thanks to the vaccination rollout," Ulrik Orum-Petersen, a promoter at event organiser Live Nation, told AFP.
Sweden to lift most COVID measures

Sweden will remove virtually all coronavirus restrictions on September 29 with the pandemic under control and the vaccination rollout well-advanced, the government said Tuesday.
Hygiene rules and social distancing to combat the virus will still be encouraged in public places, according to the authorities.
"Our aim has always been to lift the restrictions as soon as possible," Health Minister Lena Hallengren told a press conference.
Sweden made global headlines for its decision to combat the spread of the virus with mostly non-coercive measures rather than the type of lockdowns seen across Europe.
Those measures began to be eased from May under a five-point plan, with the fourth stage due to be reached at the end of September.
[Note: Swedish 'measures' have been few-to-none, other than ‘suggestions’ & restrictive travel from other countries.]
