According to Brevard County court records, Wilder actually had 21 misdemeanor arrests and 24 felony arrests dating back to 2002, Florida Today reported. The judges and prosecutors responsible for the criminal being freed should be fired and prosecuted for malfeasance, misfeasance and nonfeasance.
Six charges were dismissed, and another 17 – including attempted first-degree murder, battery on a law enforcement officer, and aggravated assault with a weapon – were dropped.
He was convicted of 12 charges in Brevard County alone, to include failing to register as a career offender, possession of a firearm by a felon, and cannabis possession.
Wilder also had additional cases pending at the time of the ambush attack.
“Why is a thug with this kind of criminal history even given a bond where he can be out on our streets to harm someone else?” Sheriff Ivey asked in the video briefing.
I didn’t notice that movement but it makes sense.
That’s a lot of bullets needed to stop someone.
What caliber ammo do those guys use? Anyone know?
The other two ‘orcs’ were innocent and returned to the scene voluntarily after the incident per the sheriff, who also thanked them for their cooperation.
"And to those out there who might be foolish enough to ask why we shot him so many times, the answer is simple - Because evil can never be dead enough!"
It sounded like a white male, so I assume cop.
Yeah…. Quickly everyone ran different directions
I noticed the guy didn’t get out of the car until the LEO moved next to the back door, allowing him to open the door and exit and shoot pint blank.
Hopefully, they will all learn something about how to deal with a situation like that.
Never put yourself in a vulnerable situation.
Lucky he ran out of ammo.
Here is an excellent video by Sheriff Wayne Ivey who gives a press briefing and goes over the dashcam footage moment by moment.
He said Wilders got exactly what he deserved.
No doubt
Typically law enforcement tends to favor 9mm or 40 S&W. Without initiating a religious war, yes the 40 hits harder. (says the guy that carries 9mm)
Either way though, these are *just* handgun rounds. I believe the statistic is that in general, 6 out of 7 people shot with handguns survive. No, I don't think catching 15 rounds of either 9mm or 40 S&W is survivable. I didn't research it, but I'd bet that guy is dead.
The thing is, especially with handgun rounds, you can put one or even multiple rounds into extremities without significantly disabling the target. They may lose function or lose the use of that limb due to muscle or bone damage, but the wounds are not immediately fatal.
Even putting a dozen hollow points into the torso may not be an *immediate* stop. If you don't hit the heart or the spine, they are potentially still a threat. Even with their organs turned to hamburger it takes a few moments to bleed out enough to deny oxygen to the brain and stop them. Really the only immediate sure-stops in one shot are heart, spine, or brain.
Every self-defense tactics instructor I've ever talked to (and there have been several) says if you decide to employ deadly force you shoot center mass (ie. heart) and you shoot as rapidly as you can accurately at that range until the target stops moving. In fact one was emphatic that within arms reach you mag dump, period. You don't get any points for bringing ammo home, only for bringing yourself and your loved ones home.
Yep…. I agree with the sheriff.
Thanks for the advice.
keep firing until the target changes shape or catches fire...
Why did you shoot 15 times..... Well, that was all I had at the time with out doing a mag change.
Grin, exactly! I tell you this, it is intimidating shooting up close. In one training session I had, the instructor had me hold my handgun at my side in a two-handed weapon retention grip, literally face to face with the target (as if being attacked) and mag dump. The slap-back of sound, pressure, gasses, dust, etc. from the target at that range is something else. "Up close and personal" doesn't even begin to cover it.
Ping
I like the sheriff’s quote when asked about the mag dump….. because evil can’t be to dead.
Yet another example of obama’s sons.
There has to be a non-letterboxed version of this showing the mag dump in all its glory.
