News Clippings:
ABC News reports: (Resident) Joe Biden is set to deliver remarks Thursday on a new strategy to stop the spread of the contagious delta variant, White House officials confirmed Tuesday... "will lay out a six-pronged strategy," involving both the public and private sectors... "Yes, that's -- that's true," Psaki said Tuesday, confirming Biden's hands are tied when it comes to a widespread mandate. Psaki did seem to suggest that Biden will call on the private sector to institute more mandates... Part of the strategy Biden referenced Friday is to ask states and local governments to consider using federal funding to extend unemployment benefits in hard-hit areas.

Forbes reports: According to a new study (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0277953621005256 ) published in Social Science and Medicine, one’s sense of purpose is a critical factor in their decision to get vaccinated. The study’s authors defined sense of purpose as the degree to which people said their life has direction, their future plans meet their interests and values, and their life is guided by values, goals, and priorities. Age was by far the strongest predictor of vaccination willingness in the study, with older adults more likely to get vaccinated. Political affiliation was also an important factor... But just behind politics as a predictor of vaccine willingness was sense of purpose, which was an especially potent factor for people ages 30 to 49.

Vietnam’s coronavirus hotspots of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and the capital Hanoi must vaccinate all of their adult residents with at least one shot by 15 September the ministry of health has said. Vietnam has one of the lowest coronavirus vaccination rates in the region, with only 3.3% of the country’s 98 million people fully vaccinated with two shots, and 15.4% with one shot, Reuters reports. The country is battling a worsening outbreak that has infected more than 520,000 people and killed 13,000, the vast majority in the past few months. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon, pop 7M), the country’s business hub, accounts for half of the infections and 80% of the fatalities.

AFP reports: US pediatric Covid hospitalizations have surged since Delta became predominant, but a new study that offers a first look at the relevant data suggests that fears the variant causes more severe disease are unfounded. The paper by the CDC also found that between June 20 and July 31, 2021, unvaccinated adolescents were more than 10 times more likely to be hospitalized than those who were vaccinated. After examining 3,116 hospital records from the period before Delta, and comparing them to 164 records during the Delta period, the percentage of children with severe indicators was found to not differ greatly. Specifically, the percent of patients admitted to intensive care was 26.5 pre-Delta and 23.2 post; the percent placed on ventilators was 6.1 pre-Delta and 9.8 post; and the percent who died was 0.7 pre-Delta and 1.8 post. These differences did not rise to the level of statistical significance... the number of hospitalizations in the post-Delta period is small.

In before the canned responses
Correction from comment #1:
Just above “News Clippings” it says “Vaccinations Extremely Strong” - but they were actually kind of weak over the weekend (although that may be revised later, as happens with a lot of the weekend numbers).
I just failed to update that vaccination status, after cutting and pasting the format from an earlier report’s thread. Sorry for the poor editing.
That’s alot of people who have taken an experimental treatment for a strain that is obsolete. May need reports of booster shots and the future booster shoots. Thank you again for posting data.
Correction - you are already sharing info on booster shots. Maybe you won’t have to five months from now on future ones. cheers- and be healthy.
you know former president trump’s “operation warp speed” no longer exists...
why do you continue to lie to people?...
and these people that are lying wonder why there are people that refuse to get the experimental shots...
That looks like a canned response.

Israel’s Maccabi Healthcare Services study, that “vaccinated individuals are 13 times more likely to be infected by the Delta variant than those with natural antibodies.” Study: COVID recovery gave Israelis longer-lasting Delta defense than vaccines. The variant was 27 times more likely to break through Pfizer protection from January-February and cause symptoms than it was to penetrate natural immunity from the same period. It compared 46,035 Maccabi members who caught the coronavirus at some point during the pandemic and the same number of double-vaccinated people. People who had two vaccine shots had a six-fold higher chance of getting infected with Delta than patients who hadn’t been vaccinated but previously contracted the coronavirus, according to the research.

Delta Variant: Natural Immunity 700% Greater Protection Than Shot, Data from Israeli Govt. Shows Preliminary data showing that the resurgence of COVID infections in Israel is being driven almost exclusively by those who never had prior infection – whether they are vaccinated or not. In fact, 40% of the 7,700 new cases since May 1 in this very heavily tested and traced country were among those who were fully vaccinated.

John Hopkins: Natural immunity is durable. Researchers from Washington University in St. Louis reported last month that 11 months after a mild infection immune cells were still capable of producing protective antibodies. The authors concluded that prior Covid infection induces a “robust” and “long-lived humoral immune response,” leading some scientists to suggest that natural immunity is probably lifelong.
************
Dr. Ryan Cole, a Mayo Clinic-trained pathologist who runs the largest independent laboratory in Idaho, explained to me how infection-induced immunity is much deeper and broader. “A natural infection induces hundreds upon hundreds of antibodies against all proteins of the virus, including the envelope, the membrane, the nucleocapsid, and the spike,” said Dr. Cole, who has spent the past 16 months examining and culturing SARS-CoV-2 specimens. “Dozens upon dozens of these antibodies neutralize the virus when encountered again. Additionally, because of the immune system exposure to these numerous proteins (epitomes), our T cells mount a robust memory, as well. Our T cells are the ‘marines’ of the immune system and the first line of defense against pathogens. T cell memory to those infected with SARSCOV1 is at 17 years and running still.”
However, in vaccine-induced immunity, according to Cole, “we mount an antibody response to only the spike and its constituent proteins.” He explains how this produces much fewer neutralizing antibodies, and “as the virus preferentially mutates at the spike, these proteins are shaped differently and antibodies can no longer ‘lock and key’ bind to these new shapes.”
NEW - 90 people were vaccinated against Covid with the third dose in a retirement home in Oberhausen, Germany. Of these, nine had reactions so severe that they had to be treated. Resuscitation procedures had to be initiated in two cases three days after vaccination. @disclosetv— Tormund Giantsbane (@Tormund_G_) September 7, 2021
It’s exhausting and sad. It’s understandable that the aged and vulnerable are seeking some kind of shot. In my mind, with my sophmoric understanding - they aren’t going to find a magic cure for a corona virus in vaccines or boosters.
Of course I shake my head and am a little grieved - maybe - at people who have such a high survival rate (young, reasonably healthy and under 70) becoming a ferret for big pharma’s study.
I know, I know they are doing it for others.....
To each their own, whether pharma ferret or wild ferret.
My question to you is what survival rate do you use as an inflection point from which you would decide to change from being a wild ferret to a pharma ferret?
Honest, hopefully non-argumentative, question.
“the Dead Ferret Shot “
Ferrets died during testing of vaccines developed for SARS-1 and MERS. SARS-1 and MERS died off on their own and the vaccine work stopped.
Those were whole virus vaccines.
The current SARS-2/Covid vaccines are not whole virus vaccines. This avoided the lethal ADE problem that plagued the earlier attempts. No ferrets died. Nor did any other test animals. Team Vaccine Fear needs to come up with a more accurate reason to be paranoid.
Moderna conducted a trial with monkeys many months ago. The results were good.
It'll be interesting to see if the somewhat lower infection rates recently observed will hold true into the fall as the northern states' residents begin the heating season. And how Labor Day gatherings, football games, and just generally people going back to living their lives with some degree of normalcy affects the caseload.
For those convinced the "natural path" to immunity is the best course of inaction, this should be, but of course, won't give most pause.https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2110475
