Yeah I'm sure employers will just love to hire somebody who was lazy and "took the year off, on the taxpayers' dime."
They’re hiring and are desperate for employees.
The low skill jobs will be the first to fill out.
I know FR folks like to call folks “lazy” who can work but refuse to do so.
However, when .gov creates strong economic incentives not to work, it is not crazy to want to stop pulling the cart and decide to ride on it for a while.
Working for free (or near free) is not just dumb, it is called slavery.
I think certain industries might hire “the lazy” albeit reluctantly and for brief periods (until the can automate). I expect groceries stores and fast food to totally eliminate cashier’s rapidly, for instance.
This has already be addressed at our shop. You sat home, you can sit home some more. We aren’t hiring freeloaders.
