Well the same thing happened with shipping. Ships that in the 1970s needed hundreds in the crew now get by with 28

No. I work in the industry and robots are cost effective only at minimum wage over 15, and that too, barely.

However prices are dropping.

I am in Poland and have been for the past 11 years.

There are many Spaniards moving to the Wroclaw area.

People are in for a big surprise.

Universal basic income is here, if not now, then withing a year. But it won’t be in the form of currency. It will be goods and services prescribed by a planned redistribution system run by the government. You’ll get a weeks worth of supplemental food delivered to your home, with no receipt. You’ll go to the clinic and never see the bill. The government will own your home, through Blackrock and Vangaurd, and the actual value of the distributions will be based on aggregated values and payments.

People will long for the day they are just batteries plugged in to the Matrix.

This is happening now, to the lowest classes. It will very soon be happening to what was the middle class. Even doctors and lawyers will be sucked in to the machine.

That’s if people still want to eat there. But the way things are going, wouldn’t surprise me if governments start forcing people to.

No wonder there are so many Islamic pirates.

Somali pirates. That occurred due to the collapse of Somalia.

Ubi was tried in a controlled experiment in Finland. It failed and was discontinued.

“Ubi was tried in a controlled experiment in Finland. It failed and was discontinued.”

Well, in this country, failure is not a reason to discontinue something.

Once a machine is installed, though, it is a sunk cost, and won't be tossed out if effective wages go down.

And as you notice, prices are dropping. A big part of current price is from development cost. The more robots you sell, the lower the development cost per unit becomes.

Customers going downhill will increase the price pressure on businesses. Businesses will respond with even more automation to try to get their operating costs down.
As the whole system collapses, automated socialism will take over.

Correct. But it will take some time before it’s cheaper than $2 - remember maintenance costs as well

Automation may not be required now days so many have been trained to act like robots.

A guy with a Polish name goes to an eye doctor who displays a chart with the line:

A-X-J-D-E-R-K-L-N

The doctor asks, “Can you read any of that?”

The Polish guy says, “Can I read it? I KNOW da guy!
