It is its deep sadness that I have to let you all know that Jasper passed away today.

Dana: Sometimes we criticize you here, but now’s not the time. I know the terrible pain you’re suffering because Canute, my wonderful Great Dane, passed suddenly in January of this year. You have my total condolences in your premature loss.

I rescued my two big outside dogs from the side of the highway when they were 6 weeks old. My husband talked to the elderly couple that lived where we found the pups and they said the mother dog was a feral dog. The daddy was the big Black Mouth Cur across the street. The mother dog always put the pups under their porch when they were old enough to wean. They told us to keep the ones we picked up because there were nine and the others were going to the pound. They are 14 years old next month. I have spent a small fortune on fences and vet bills. Lol

We are retired now and do the best we can. There is nothing better than the love from a grateful dog. My two house dogs are Mountain Feists and spoiled brats but great dogs. They have a big fenced yard and this one fits right in and is not as hyper. They get along great.

You are truly blessed. I had to put down both of my two dogs last month, one of which was a rescue.

Once we had a trainer visit for what turned out to be a fruitless pursuit to provide the dogs better manners :) As he left, the trainer remarked that while the breeder dog would bark and run in the event of an intruder, the rescue would attack with intent to injure or kill. Rescues are that grateful, he said.

My two Curs are that way. I think this one will be too. She already takes every step I do and has to be touching me. My two Feists are entitled brats but I know they love me. Sorry about your dogs. I had to put down both my 14 year old Jack Russell’s and my 12 year old Bloodhound the same year. That almost did me in. I got the Feists after that and it helped.
