A number of comedians have spoken out against cancel culture in recent years, including Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Burr, David Spade, Kevin Hart, Michael Che, and Ricky Gervais. But there’s one comic who doesn’t think the trend of funnymen and women losing jobs for politically incorrect jokes is a problem — Jay Leno.
The former host of “The Tonight Show” told the Los Angeles Times that stand-up acts have always had to adapt to the new norms, saying, “You either change with the times, or you die.”

It applies to show biz and show-biz types, right Jay? If you’re just an ordinary average citizen you might have conservative values and not care too much for all of the “latest and greatest” of anything. I thumb my nose at those who would suggest that I can’t reject the idea of moving with the times whenever I decide and for my own reasons.
I wonder if Jay makes his pet rock wear a poodle skirt when he takes her to the roller rink.
Leno’s attitude shows why comedians are bad doctors. Or engineers. Or soldiers. Anyone who gets into making real changes can’t be a comedian.
I don’t think Leno is trying to walk back Hollywood stars cancel culture behaviour but it is clear they can drop off with their sanctimonious posturing.
The stars are starting to realize how impertinent they really are.

Jay already dealt with Cancel Culture. After Obama was elected, he never made jokes about him. When asked why, he said ‘he’s just not funny’. I guess Jay never heard about the ‘57 states’ etc. Or rather his writers wouldn’t do any Obama jokes and Leno was ok with that.

Well Carson wasn’t someone you’d want over for dinner either. I’ve come to the conclusion if one is a comedian their non comedic life is usually a dumpster fire. They have issues sort of like psychiatrists and pychologists in that way.
How does Jay feel about the "My body, My choice" argument for refusing the vaccine?
Does he still support that same argument regarding abortion?
So...Jay Leno, a man with no children, is telling you that you either obey Communists using woke “cancel culture” as a weapon against your or you die.
What’s funny is Biden, Harris, Pelosi, BLM, etc. There was a time when comedians would have been all over the senility and incompetence of the Biden regime. Used to be if you didn’t take advantage of these targets of hilarity, you would die as a stand up. Leno is full of crap, now stand ups don’t change their routines. If a comic changes now and makes fun of Biden or Fauci or the regime, they are blacklisted and die. Stand up, Soviet styled humor, that’s the ticket. What was a comic allowed to use as material in 1980 Moscow? I’ve seen one routine since Carlin died where counter culture is actually lampooned and it was funny as heck. Like everything else, the left has destroyed comedy.
Jay Leno should have stayed out of it and kept his mouth shut at worst, and at best, said that comedians should be able to use any material they want because it is...comedy.
I have never thought he was a conservative. But I respected that he largely kept it to himself, as far as I knew (I don’t think I watched his show more than once or twice)
But this. As other people have said, that indicates a lack of core values, which I only accept in narrow circumstances, such as a person who is too simple-minded to have them, or a child who has not had time or experience to develop them.
People can have good core values, bad core values, or no core values.
Bad core values are, at the very least, predictable. You know who you must fight. No core values bothers me more, in some undefinable way. Perhaps I just have more contempt for those types.
I was in the past, neutral-mildly positive on Jay Leno-I am not into celebrity, but I liked his car collection.
But this. When I saw this come out of his mouth. I feel open contempt for him now. He now appears to be a sheep with a lot of money and influence. But inside...he is a sheep. Which also means, in his position, he is a tool. A useful idiot.
