There was a recent British mini-series that featured a black Anne Boleyn. I tried watching the first episode, and deleted it.

There was also a 1998 "mini-series" (only two parts) called Merlin. Sam Neill played Merlin.

Along similar PC modern lines CBS has a new gynocnetric series “NCIS Hawaii” with a female lead and many of the main characters women.
