# Excalibur is the greatest film about the Arthurian legend. Beautiful, literate, intelligent themes of heroism, nationalism, and the transition of Celtic Britain from paganism to Christianity.

I liked that one too. Loved the armor.

However, the best treatment I’ve seen of the Arthurian legend was by a fellow named Jack Whyte. He started with the premise, that there was no such thing as magic. Given that, how could it have happened in the real world? Be forwarned, that it is 5 or 6 volumes (I forget exactly). It is well done though.
