A Florida man who "drove well over 100mph" on his motorcycle in a bid to escape police told officers he was trying to show off for his passenger, as it was their first date. That's according to Clearwater Police, who say 22-year-old Taylor Beverly ran a red light while riding his white 2017 Suzuki, accompanied by a female passenger, on Saturday night, per Newsweek. He then turned around and made eye contact with officers before speeding away(snip)
Officers pursued Beverly but ultimately ended the chase after he ran several more red lights and began weaving in and out of traffic at high speed, per the document. It notes an officer in another vehicle arrested Beverly "without incident" when he stopped at a red light some time later. "He admitted to the offense" and "stated he was trying to show off for his date," officer Kyle Bingham noted. She wasn't wowed. "The female said she was screaming at him to stop, but he refused," Bingham added.
The date quickly came to an end as Beverly, of Tampa, was booked on a felony charge of fleeing police at high speeds while displaying "a wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property," per Newsweek. He was released early Sunday after posting $10,000 bond.(snip)
Beverly has prior convictions for cocaine possession, grand theft, and passing a counterfeit check, and was cited for reckless driving and driving an unregistered vehicle following a motorcycle crash in 2019. No word on whether there will be a second date.

“..The female says she was screaming at him to stop, but he refused.”
Wonder if then was the first time that happened with her?
Warning Bells should be a-ringing!
Exactly
On a big rice burner, that’s turtle speed.
Either of my bikes will 80 in 2nd gear. 80 feels like doing 40 in your typical passenger car.
Well there shouldn’t be a 2nd date with anyone exercising such poor judgment…smh
Uou’ve got to be a special kind of stupid to run a motorcycle that fast.
?? Sniffle,,,blow nose, wipe eyes???
Watch what you’re saying thar.
There was a time…
Been there and done that many a time but minus the passenger and minus the getting catched part.
Kawasaki was king of the road back then.
The Time? It was a good time, no it was the best of times.
Drivers ‘drove’ they just drove!, didn’t have cell phones and they had respect.
Also back “when” …most families yes families …were lucky to own one car and that car carried the breadwinner to and from work, another foreign concept to the road wanderers of today. The car went to work then it sat there waiting for it’s master to return when the whistle blew.
That in itself freed up the roads streets and highways for those whose work required travel thus allowing for a going about with work endeavors unimpeded.
Also no lottery tickets were begging to get off the shelf and the beer and wine sales went with hard earned dollar earners after hours.
I for one lament a simpler time when you could ‘turn it loose’ and have some fun without a joe stupid killing you
It thus begs the question, are the stupid people really the ones aimlessly wandering the roads at all hours,,,burns my gasss.
Rant off.
Yeah, I can see the train of that dress getting caught in the rear wheel...
Stupid piece of shit.
“Kawasaki was king of the road back then”
Sounds like you’re talking about a ZX11. Have owned a few. A 180MPH bike, could hit 100 in 1st gear at the 12K rpm redline.
Never heard of one. Started with 900 z
I have a street bike about 850cc. If I am on the highway and a truck passes me, I feel it. Also, above a certain speed the bike feels less stable. It might well be different with a bigger bike, but the one I have now will probably be my last bike.
Maybe that makes me a wuss. But I think you’ll find too many snow-flakes or wusses who ride motorcycles.
It may not be you. Big hyperbikes designed to go 180-200 mph are very aerodynamic. The fork rake is designed/set for those speeds. Plus you’re riding tucked in. Doing 120 feels like doing 60 in your car. As far as truck turbulence, when behind you cut through it easier, and when passing the leading edge, you have enough power to WOT for a second or two and burst through it as quickly as possible.
Pffft! Who hasn't? Well, HOG riders I suppose...
Meant to say: But I DON’T think you’ll find too many snow-flakes or wusses who ride motorcycles. LOL.
Yeah, have never even tried a big bike. There is barely enough room in the garage for mine. Plus, I have no desire to pay as much for a bike as a car.
WOT=wide open throttle?
Yes
