US media and deep-state propaganda likes to portray Russia as a bankrupt, alcoholic nation, living under the boot of Putin and his thugs.
People like that are incapable of developing hypersonic missiles, nuclear torpedos, portable nuclear reactors, and such.
Russians are a highly intelligent and highly organized people - and Putin is attempting to revive their traditional culture and religion, free from the influence of globalism and wokeism.
My fear is most people in Washington DC believe their own propaganda and will make some very stupid mistakes.
I will never forget the fear of our fearless leaders back then.
Really shook Eisenhower up.
Now that they have slightly different form of government, it is even more dangerous. If that country ever committed to a free capitalistic based economy, they wouldnt have to fight a war to steamroll the world. It'd be over in a couple decades.
Secretly, the Chinese fear the Russians more than us.
I'm married to a Russian (from the Donbas region of Ukraine), father to four half-Russian children, friends with the local Russian community, and have visited my wife's hometown on many occasions.
This effort to paint the Russians as adversarial is troubling and offensive. The average Russian on the street is more like us than different. They look like we do, dress like we do, celebrate most of the same Christian holidays that we do (albeit on different days). They are a friendly and joyful people, proud of their accomplishments. Young Russians are indistinguishable from young Americans. Same hairstyles, same clothes, same ugly tattoos, listen to the same music, watch the same TV shows, same movies.
They are a culture the shares the values we used to hold dear and should be one of our closest allies.
Her pin says it all. Let's be friends.
