My father saw Dachau not long after liberation. He spent quite a while in Munich.
He died in March at 95.
I did not remember that the same inscription was at Dachau.
Dachau was not a camp like Auschwitz, it was largely a political prisoner camp. Not primarily Jewish. Lots of Russian soldiers and other groups that Hitler determined were anti Nazi.
One of dad’s high school friends was Lt. Jack Westbrook. He and his men were directly involved in the liberation of the camp.
