I watched Simmons when he was a guest judge at American Idol. He gave one of the most sensible piece of advise to one of the contestants auditioning... which is to have a backup job because the vast majority who want to succeed in the music industry, no matter how talented, don’t make it.
He considered himself to be one of the fortunate ones...
