Osprey V-22 flyover in Sacramento at 8:20pm

Myself and Mrs. Flush live in South Sacramento near the Executive Airport. Civilian aviation and the occaisional vintage warbird are common sights and sounds for us. The air traffic lines up from the southeast for the main runway and we're quite used to it.

At about 8:20 this evening we heard the distinctive sound of a V-22 Osprey traveling at a moderate speed at low altitude in a southerly direction. No kidding, it rattled the house!

I've checked everywhere online and cannot find anything to show an aircraft flying across this airspace. The closest active air bases are Travis and Beale. I am intimately familiar with the Osprey and there is no mistaking it for something else.

Did anyone else hear it? Or see it? Thanks!

Would that per chance, be next to Folsom Lake, with Granite Bay to the west? I used to live in Fairfield, but I live in DVO now (ICAO RPWD) so it would be a bit difficult to get there. 😀 I worked with guys, from Dixon, Davis, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Roseville, Antelope, North Highlands, and points between. My son went 5 years to CSUS, then to USAF OTS. Now, he is a USAF pilot. 😀
My question is, why is NCT closer to Mather, than Sac International?

Neither do I. I know what a Blackhawk sounds like and I know what an Osprey sounds like. Especially at low altitude.

I saw the BadYear blimp yesterday...not a good omen.

I haven’t seen the Goodyear blimp in years. We used to see it at Sacramento Executive airport almost every year and then the last few years not at all.
