Looking at at the cams in South Lake Tahoe, there is zero traffic moving about. Looks like most folks took the evac orders and left.

If you look at a map of Lake Tahoe you will notice there is only one main road that circles the lake. It would be very easy for a fire to envelope an area with no way to escape (except perhaps by boat).
So the smart ones left when they first warned of the danger.
Currently most of the roads are “closed” towards the south side of the lake. From Tahoma on the west side headed north is open up through Tahoe city and up to I-80 and on the east side just south of Incline Village is open headed north to Mount Rose hiway to head east into Reno. Hwy 50 out of Carson City to the lake is “closed”. Not sure if they are road blocked or not to inbound other than fire crews and medical. If you’re in a boat in the middle of the lake you might be okay. :-}
