Ida Aftermath - New Orleans

Posted on 08/30/2021 12:33:03 PM PDT by wardamneagle

POWER All eight transmission towers that deliver power into the New Orleans area are currently out of service Entergy is working to assess damage and identify a path forward to restore power Unknown when power will be restored. Could be weeks.

WATER S&WB says they are currently maintaining water pressure in the city of New Orleans, meaning no precautionary boil water advisories Both 52-WATER and backup phone lines are down, so there is no way for customers to reach S&WB Despite losing Entergy power, the S&WB turbines continue to churn out power for the city's 96 operational drainage pumps Sewer pumps throughout the city are experiencing power loss, meaning some residents could see sewage backup The utility is trying to get backup generators online for some of them Currently, the backup generator on the westbank is down, meaning there is no pumping happening for Algiers neighborhoods

They will have help from many utilities, contractors, etc. It will begin
almost immediately. Granted a lot of surveying the damage has to be
done but out of state workers are on the way. They will have businesses
set to provide food, lodging, other necesseties. Two weeks or so
and things will be much different utility wise. Now structure repair
to homes, business, etc. is a different situation.

I believe the DINCâ„¢ (Drool Bucket In Chief) just called a black advisor "boy" in front of the TV cameras.

The reason for my snarky comment on the vaccination requirement is because of this:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3984633/posts

Are utility workers going to be required to be vaccinated?

Will they wait to tell the workers these requirements until they get to New Orleans?

Will this requirement cause a cluster^%$#?

I've lost power for extended periods numerous times up here in the Northeast. It is always a welcome sight to see all those out-of-state utility companies pouring in.

It does take a day or so to survey the damage and hand out work assignments but once they get going, things happen fast.

I have a feeling the really nice places are loaded with people armed to the teeth, good food, & lots of alcohol. Party on......

So it looks like Christmas looting season has started early. I guess the looters were too lazy to do it during the BLM and Antifa riots.

Answers the question as to why some don’t evacuate.

I can’t answer that question. But I’d guess that most utilities
have encouraged workers to have vaccinations already in their
normal job. We’ll see but they will find workers.

They will find workers eventually, but I think the vaxx issue may be an unanticipated curve ball.

Most utilities will have some union associated with the workers.
So I don't know what the requirements are in todays working
environment.

Our local utility is sending workers to help in New Orleans.

Here is the local utility’s vaxx policy:

https://www.eversource.com/content/docs/default-source/builders-contractors/consolidated-covid-19-safety-plan.pdf?sfvrsn=11b0d862_2

The vaxxes are _not_ mandatory.

In New Orleans vaxxes _are_ mandatory.

Have the workers (now en route) been vetted for this, and are only vaxxed workers in the trucks?

Murphy’s Law says maybe not...

The first thing I thought of is how many people will die from CO2 poisoning from their generator in the next few days.

It happens every time we lose power in NH for extended periods.

The generators won’t last long—no gasoline of course...

Per a video I saw, the wires of that tower stretch across the river...cutting off the river too[?]

Yeah, those don’t get replaced overnight by a few guys and a couple of bucket trucks

Power is off and it won’t take long with a few wire cutters
and a wench to pull the wire out of the river. It most likely
is lying on the bottom and not floating because of weight.

Correct. And neither does the buildings get restored overnight.
It’s all a process working together over time to get things back.

They know the power could be out for an extended period of time and they haven’t moved in the Guard so they want the carnage to happen.

For what purpose, I don’t know, other than to continue to undermine Americans’ sense of security, faith in our institutions, and to create divisions amongst ourselves.
