There were roles I liked the guy in.

His politics through were another story, Hard Left. At one time he wanted to make a movie about Stalin from the point of view the guy was misunderstood. Asner, along with so many others, refused to see this man as the Murderer and Butcher he was.

They benefited from a Capitalistic system but wanted Socialism if not out right Communism. All of them rabid Mendacious Hypocrites.

Are you willing to cast upon him that he was? Making a pronouncement without authority?

Jesus said we will know them by their fruit. There was no fruit. I hope he responded to Jesus, but there is no evidence.

“I hope he responded to Christ” is the proper, 100% biblical response.

Evil lives far too long on this Earth. The damage they are doing has now reached a level of being irreparable by man himself.

My favorite movie scene with Ed Asner in it was when Robert Mitchum busted him in the face with a rifle.

El Dorado (1966)

It’s a shame, since Lou Grant, along with Rob Reiner and his Dad have given our popular culture a lot of lighthearted and comedic moments.
I suppose every Coin has two sides.

Thank you.

Let us remember the truth about who Ed Asner really was.

I am in no mood for being kind or respectful to nasty old commie bastards,
so soon after losing thirteen beautiful young people to America-haters.

Yeah, one’s ability for pulling feet off is a rear feat, indeed.

Another leftist pos. I did enjoy his character on the MTM show but I found out lots of acting jobs I enjoyed was performed by ultra lefties.

I did read post #24. It was about as slanted a biography as one could imagine.

Look, I’m no fan of Asner’s politics. And maybe he wasn’t even a decent person. But liberals treat every conservative who passes as another Hitler who deserves to go to Hell. That is simply morally and spiritually wrong. We on the right really should try to avoid that sort of thing.

As a side note, here’s what got me to thinking about all this. I happened to be with a group of colleagues at work when we heard the news that Ronald Reagan had passed away.

One of my colleagues was very liberal. He started screaming about what a monster Reagan was. He fired the air traffic controllers. He did this. He did that. Ronald Reagan should burn in hell.

I was appalled by that. I get that he didn’t like Reagan. Well, okay. But my colleague acted like we were talking about a mass murderer. That wasn’t okay.

Yes, he was a supporter of nasty, far left causes and no friend to the American working class or the ideals of this country. When he became head of the Screen Actors Guild, the first thing he did was to take down the painting in their headquarters of its former chief, Ronald Reagan. Sure, he had acting talent; so did Maurice Chevalier who collaborated with the Nazis.

Ed has spoken on the subject of his belief in God:
I don't believe in God, though I'm not prepared to call myself an atheist either. You know the old phrase: 'There are no atheists in foxholes.' I've never been in a foxhole, and if I ever find myself in a foxhole, I'll let you know if I believe in God or not.

Ed Asner

I know he's appeared in a number of quasi-religious Hallmark movies in his later years. But he was probably only acting.

Ed has a clearer perspective now.
