My dogs are 100lbs each, hogging mute. Kinda like pitbulls. The standard treatment around here to prevent heart worms is 1ml per 50lbs of dog using the 1% injectable solution.

Good to know. Thank you. I have Gunner, purebred Lab, and Oliver, 45 lb little mutt. Though when I bought him he was considered by the rescue to be a “blend”. Mix or mutt is apparently offensive to... the dogs??? Hahaha.
Oh, how often do you do this treatment for heartworms?
I’m not sure how prevalent heartworms are here. They were non-existent in San Diego. We do have mosquitoes here.
And the vet said no fleas, however a little boy died a couple of months ago from bubonic plague! And I’m like “no fleas my arse.”
Noting that story is from Colorado (where we lived for many years) I'll just point out:
Most of Colorado is neck-deep in Prairie Dogs, the ground rats both carry every pest bug/disease in the book and regularly have mass die-offs from Plague/everything you can imagine.
I would recommend 1) You consider changing vets (maybe some local old-timer would be good), 2) Vaccinate/protect your guys as recommended by that vet at a minimum and 3) Pay very close attention to reports of wildlife activity in your area for possible additions to those protections.
BTW, those reports should probably best originate from the rural newsletters or even rumors in your area. The Big Time (especially Denver/Boulder) media is.....well, worthless. (I didn't even trust their weather reports.)
You could also get the Bubonic plague vax. Have had it a number of times (required) when you are going into rat country (SE Asia Philippines). It does suck, two shots a week apart and your arms will hurt. But less so than the plague.
