There are programmatic ways of verifying if a URL for a link is legit or not.

Basically the code checks all links embedded in a POST against a service that verifies if the link is safe, any links fail the check the POST should be rejected.

A link can be programmatic legit merely because where the link goes is true to where it is registered to go in the DNS registry(ies).

My concern is beyond that basic check.

That basic check does not verify anything about ownership or who is really in charge of/running a site. If I were Jim I would not permit links to sites where it cannot be found, on the site’s own web pages, just who they are. Its buying a pig in a poke, no matter what the contents of their stories say about stuff; they still say nothing about themselves. Would you buy a used car from a masked man on the street?
