Deseret News reports: The delta variant could evade vaccines if it becomes Delta 4+, new paper warns. The pre-publication (non peer reviewed) sutdy (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.22.457114v1 ), identified four changes to the Delta variant (the K417N, N439K, E484K and N501Y mutations) that if combined into a so-called Delta 4+ variant, could evade vaccine protection. An inactive version was lab created by Japanese researchers and tested, showing the ability to evade antibodies. (Pfizer CEO) Bourla said (that in general) it would take about three months for Pfizer to produce a new version of its COVID-19 vaccine that could stop a COVID-19 variant. Yahoo Life reports: Several doctors told WFLA, an NBC affiliate, that COVID patients are now reporting earaches more frequently than they had before... "The reason we are seeing earaches more often is because sore throat is so prominent [with the Delta variant], and the earache is coming from [the] sore throat."

The New Scientist reports: Blood clot risk higher after infection than vaccination (about 10 to one). Its from a study, published today (27 Aug) in the British Medical Journal (https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n1931 ). They also found that the time window for blood clot reactions was brief for vaccination, but prolonged for infection.
Soon to double, triple and quadruple with each booster shot every 5 months!

Thanks for posting data. If the vaccines (especially between shots) put tremendous micro-evolutionary pressure on the virus to mutate around what kills it as many banned scientists argue, then it appears more mutants (variants) will be coming out of India - that is a lot of people between shots.
Yesterday’s post was delayed until today, so this is the second report posted today.
It looks like case numbers for the Delta Wave may have peaked Nationally on 18 Aug. New Hospitalizations (Nationally) seem to be significantly slowing growth, toward turning downward in a week or so.
Some pockets might still flare up and impact the total, but this is about where we would expect to peak, based on the UK experience with the Delta Variant. If the UK curve holds, we will drop to half of current levels over the next few weeks, and plateau there for a while.
Encouraged by the news from Israel on “natural” immunity lasting. More evidence that the Delta wave won’t rise in urban areas where people are very likely to have been exposed last fall and winter.
If only more rural people had gotten vaxxed- but we saw little from the previous waves, and Biden didn’t care about us.
Children cases are a shame. Can’t help but wonder if Trump would have had an “operation warp speed” to have safe, tested dosing before school openings.

Currently, people are just tested for COVID-19 generically, and then the Government samples from among the tests, to have some genetically sequenced, to estimate how much of each variant is out there. I believe the US Government sequences around 5-10,000 per day, in its monitoring program. Many other Governments are also monitoring variant distribution by sequencing samples.
There was a news report about a week ago, of a company developing a diagnostic test, specifically for the Delta variant, but it was not something currently available.
I would agree, but then every doctor wears a mask in surgery. Why? If they are nonsense as you claim, why not ditch them in the operating room. So confusing.

The purpose of the mask in the OR is to keep gross contamination (the surgeons breath mint) out if the sterile field not bacteria. It also offers the surgeon some protection from fluids that may squirt up from the surgical site. These masks are worn once for a limited time and not touched once put on - not like the dirty snot rags people wear in the grocery stores
