Actually, seaweed is great for us, but the seaweed iota-carrageenan is pulled from is not one normally eaten, to my understanding.
Carrageenan in tiny doses is fine, but not meant for more than that use. For instance, mice are studied for IBD and Crohn’s disease by feeding them a little purposely spoiled iota-carrageenan. It permanently gives the mice those conditions.
