R’s once again pissing into the wind.
There is recent precedent in this area—a Republican state delegate, Nick Freitas of Culpeper County, had a screw up in his paperwork to declare for re-election. It was rejected, and Freitas was stricken from the ballot and had to run a write-in campaign. Fortunately for Nick, he got enough write-ins to get re-elected.
What also needs to happen is the two “witnesses” who falsely signed their names on a blank document need to be prosecuted for a violation of Virginia’s version of the federal 18 USC Sec. 1001. I am not holding my breath on this one.
