Something tells me, given how much money the family has, that she’d be perfectly ok if CornPop were gone forever and Hunter somehow ended up on a slab in some city morgue.
She’d could just enjoy the riches and live her life, knowing that she was still a First Lady of the United States and be done with those two.
Since she will likely never tell the real reasons she propped up Joe to become President, we can only make a conclusion it has not been a good decision for the USA. I can speculate her ego, wanting a legacy that is due her by supporting Joe, and more money for the family coffers are could be reasons for this decision. I don’t believe patriotic duty is a valid reason for her actions.
