Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio sentenced to over 5 months for burning Black Lives Matter flag and bringing ammo to D.C.
Proud Boys boss Enrique Tarrio has been sentenced to more than five months in jail for burning a Black Lives Matter banner that belonged to a church as well as bringing ammo to Washington, D.C., in the days before the violent Jan. 6 uprising at the U.S. Capitol.
CNN reports that a DC Superior Court judge handed down the sentence Monday. Tarrio, 37, was not in attendance when tens of thousands of Trump supporters descended on Capitol Hill to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election. While the court recognized citizens’ rights to peacefully protest, Judge Harold L. Cushenberry Jr. said Tarrio’s actions didn’t fit the bill.
“Mr. Tarrio’s conduct in these criminal cases vindicate none of these democratic values,” he ruled. “Instead, Mr. Tarrio’s actions betrayed them.”
Tarrio, who was arrested Jan. 4, told the court he’d made a big mistake and said “I profoundly apologize,” NBC News reports.

Yeah. And since when is burning the racist flag of this racist organization a crime?
yet the murders of a white woman vet, and another woman,
by the PeloXi PoliceStasi were ignored.
ignored like the politicans’ rape videos
held by the DO”J”
now .... until they have turned to dust.
You can do time for burning a BLM flag but not an American one?
When you have a shitty defense attorney who is working with the prosecution.
Justice system is so freakin’ corrupt today. This reminds of a few years ago when Proud boys got into a fist fight with Antifa and the Proud boys got 4 years in jail while the Antifa thugs got nothing.
I’m assuming his crime in burning the BLM flag was that he burned anything at all. If I burn a nazi flag in the middle of an indoor shopping mall I’d probably be arrested and charged for starting a fire there.
Regarding the ammo, that’s why it’s only five months. He obviously didn’t have a firearm.
BTW, this hints at why I didn’t go. You can’t go to DC armed. Well, not easily.
. This is such a lie. It was actually was more than tens of thousands, it was several hundred thousand. And the people were there to support President Trump and to PEACEFULLY PROTEST the fraudulent election. A few agitators, who were probably not true Trump supporters, broke into the Capitol and a few hundred useful idiots followed them in, hurting both themselves and the MAGA movement
Every patriot in the USA should burn those flags all over.
It is completely sick that you can’t burn a racist bLM flag, but commie-pinkos can burn on American flag. It is absolutely sick that you can’t carry ammo or a loaded weapon, everywhere in American, especially in Washington, DC where the government is supposed to protect our freedoms and liberties.
From what I read it was the fact that he took it from the owner’s property.
If you want to burn a flag, it seems you’d best buy your own.
The other charge was for having a “high capacity” magazine in a place where it is illegal.
You can burn a BLM flag.
You can’t go take one down from someone else’s property and burn it, it seems.
That was the best an FBI rat could get? Times are tough when you’re no longer needed to win.
It's way, way past time for comprehensive and deep legal system reform. We need revolving judgeships. STRICT limits on any kind of relationship (friendship, financial, profession, or otherwise) between judges and attorneys. The ability for people to choose where they will be tried, and by which judge. And, searches of case law by computer should be free to EVERYONE, so that they can do their own legal research (e.g. - with a few keystrokes know EVERY ruling ever made by a particular judge, who benefitted by that ruling, and any relationship those that benefitted might have with the judge).
Those are just for starters. I would also cap the percentage of what attorneys can take from any settlement, including limiting what they can make from class action suits. I know that from a FR perspective limiting what people can make is antithetical to free market capitalism. That said, the legal profession, including way too many in political office, have sided against the freedoms of others over and over, while they've skated with no consequences to their livelihoods or quality of life.
Oh, and the influence of 'elite' law schools needs to be reduced to nothing more than any citizen would have. We don't need Harvard and Yale law school graduates to be the only people deciding issues in the Supreme Court. That's entirely contrary to the diversity and equality they SAY they embrace.
Is our government becoming Fascistic, or has it been Fascistic, and we are just beginning to realize it?
His mistake was that he did not burn down an Autozone store and say Black Lives Matter.
Ya, only 5 months of his life in a cage. He got the deal!
Enrique Tarrio. How can this be? Oregon media says Proud Boys is a racist, white supremacist organization.
Anything less than a year is “only”. ;)
