My first thought was CO poisoning, but that should have been clear at the first moment.

Now I suspect poison gases from the algae. (Which might be the blue-green algae known to be poisonous). An entire African village was once suffocated by a nearby lake’s gases.

Not poison “gas”; certain types of blue-green algae in raw water sources are dangerous or poisonous.

It’s important to understand the nasties are not killed by boiling or chemical disinfection, nor can portable water purifiers or filtering remedy the water safe, if I’m understanding it correctly, and I may not.

The African lake was super-saturated with carbon dioxide from volcanic gases in its lower depths. Nearly 700 feet deep.

But a shallow flowing river wouldn’t super-saturate.

Maybe murder-suicide, we will all go to sleep in this beautiful place? A natural poisoning would not likely be peaceful or quick; they likely would have used a phone to call for help.

The African case was CO2 poisoning around the lake due to a “burp” of sequestered gases.

I am reminded of that great Sherlock Holmes line in one of the novels.

It was the dog that didn’t bark.

It is more than a coincidence that all died at the same time with the same appearance of no wounds.

Regardless of all the touching romantic photos of the two, one of them poisoned everyone including themselves. Whether it was the deed of one sick person or a mutual agreement between the two, we will never know....if my suspicion is proved.

But the idea that a baby, a dog, a small woman and a big guy all dropped dead instantly in the same spot at the same time is not a coincidence.

As for poison in the air...where were all of the buzzards feeding off all of the dead wild animals? If poisoned air killed the dog, you can bet the area will also contain dead animals of all sorts.
