GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — General Motors is recalling all Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles sold worldwide to fix a battery problem that could cause fires.
The recall raises questions about lithium ion batteries, which now are used in nearly all electric vehicles.
President Joe Biden wants to convert 50% of the U.S. vehicle fleet from internal combustion to electricity by 2050 as part of a broader effort to fight climate change.
The recall announced Friday adds about 73,000 Bolts from the 2019 through 2022 model years to a previous recall of 69,000 older Bolts.

This reminds me of an incident that I was on... My crew and I responded to a 3:00 AM call at a motel across the freeway from us. The cab of a gasoline truck parked near the building was on fire and the driver was running around screaming his head off. He had started a full blown panic telling everyone who he had woken up that the truck “was going to blow!”
We didn't have time to deal with the panicked crowd screaming and running around in every direction. We knocked the fire down with the water in our booster tank, and then told everyone to go back to bed.
It is rare for gasoline trucks to burst into flames even when they are involved in serious collisions with other vehicles and structures. This one was caused by the driver who fell asleep smoking in his truck.
