I’ve been following this on other sites. I don’t know what “peer to peer” means but I’ve heard them say he had it and that he was using it. That and a Lenox partition.

Peer-to-peer computing or networking is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or workloads between peers. Peers are equally privileged, equipotent participants in the application. They are said to form a peer-to-peer network of nodes.

If he had a server configured to provide this stuff to other perverts, he gets what he deserves. If it’s Torrent software, it’s possible that his system was used as a dump for illegal content. Still his problem for not knowing what he’s doing with Torrent software, but there’s a reasonable doubt component there.
Also, network address translation (NAT) is a thing, so you could have a number of systems behind an IP. Unless they have MAC addresses or some other type of unique identifier, it could’ve been another system behind that IP. Public IP addresses are NOT one-to-one, especially in the IPv4 space.
