A comet striking the earth for example might wipe us out.


Last time a comet struck Earth, it was not a single event, but an event that lasted over 100 years and burned off 10% of the Earth’s vegetation ; and we still survived.

When was that? Are you referring to the Cretaceous-Tertiary Event? Or what? How many millions of years ago did that happen? When you say "we" survived, I assume you mean: Homo sapiens. So is this a recent event you are talking about?
