I am stunned that this guy is Secretary of Defense for the U.S. This is at a level way below anything I expected. The guy is a deer in the headlights and hasn’t a clue.

Milley bails him out but ignores the question and recites process stats. Incredible.

I watched it without resorting to Twitter.
Austin said (several times), we’ll do what we can. He said it more elaborately but that’s what he meant. Not “we’ll get every American out of there.”
Of course they’ll do what they can. Who needs to hear that?
Then they said that the Taliban are checking people’s credentials. Really? You’re relying on them to do that?

Austin and Milley were embarrassing to watch. Apparently neither has the decency to resign.
