Not interested in having Trump back in. I’m glad he was there, but we desperately need someone who knows how to select talent and get some real things done. Trump struggled with both and I can’t see another four years changing that.
DeSantis
Paul
Pompeo
DeSantis might have a chance because of his media coverage for months. Although both Paul and Pompeo would be excellent, they don’t have the razzle-dazzle factor (think JFK v. Nixon) that, unfortunately, now plays a part in successful campaigns. I’d vote for any of them.
There will be no overthrow of the government.
Order of succession:
1. Vice President, Kamala Harris
2. Speaker of the House, Nanci Pelosi
3. President pro tempore of the Senate, Patrick "Leaky" Leahy.
4. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken
5. Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen
6. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin
7. Attorney General, Merrick Garland
8. Secretary of the INterior, Deb Haaland
9. Secretary of Agriculture, Tim Vilsack
10. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo.
I don't see an adult capable of being President on this list, so we're completely eff'd until 2022 when (presumably) the Republicans take back the House and Senate in a landslide, then vote to impeach and remove both Biden and Harris, which would then mean whoever is Speaker of the House (and LORD I HOPE IT'S NOT KEVIN MCCARTHY!) would then become President.
God Save America.
Did you even bother to click the provided link to the the letter? It states:
January 20, 2017
Processing Division
Federal Election Commission
999 E ST NW
Washington, DC 20463
To Whom It May Concern:
While this does not constitute a formal announcement of my candidacy for the 2020 election, because I have reached the legal threshold for filing FEC Form 2, please accept this letter as my Form 2 for the 2020 election in order to ensure compliance with the Federal Election Campaign Act. See 52 U.S.C. 30102(e)(1); 11 C.F.R. 100.3(a)(1).
Sincerely,
Donald J. Trump
It's called being pro-active and getting your ducks in a row early, so as to relieve yourself of one more thing to remember to do in the future.
52 U.S. Code § 30102 - Organization of political committees
So, no. President trump did not announce his 2020 reelection bid on the day of his inauguration. He merely informed the Federal Elections Commission that he does indeed intend to run for reelection in 2020. He didn't officially announce that to the country, or the world, until June 18, 2019. You see there is a distinction between the two items. One shows intent, while the other fulfills the obligatory announcement to the public at large. It was not really news for either event, in reality.
Yes, did you?
It's called being pro-active and getting your ducks in a row early, so as to relieve yourself of one more thing to remember to do in the future.
Then what is to stop Trump from sending the same letter and making the same statement now? He claims that election laws prevent it, yet he did it four years ago. So right now he should be able to say to Hannity, "While I cannot make a formal announcement now, I have filed the paperwork saying I have reached the legal threshold to run for reelection in 2024."
[ ... that we may see the first RIGHTEOUS AND FULLY JUSTIFIED American Coup!
There will be no overthrow of the government. ]
The Romans thought that to.
Personally I am not concerned about why or why not. If you believe him to be a liar, then that is your right to do so, but I will not play that game with you. Are you a Never-Trumper? With your insane assertion and questioning of his statement, I am sure beginning to think you are.
Yes, did you?
Since I provided the verbiage of the letter, along with the link to what was contained in the letter regarding the rule he referenced in his letter, in my previous response, the answer to your question should have been obvious. For you to even ask me the above question, indicates to me that you are not very observant at all.
