Democrats build coalitions. Republicans go it alone.
American Thinker ^ | 17 Aug, 2021 | Joe Strader

In the coming months, as the Democrats push harder against America’s fabric, “Leave us alone” is not an effective opposition.

I’ve previously recommended a strategy for turning the political tide that involves getting involved locally. These battles will not be won from the top down. We must build our case from the bottom, converting people one at a time. It is often said that the battle is too big and the left will overpower us. In a way that’s true. They are too big because conservatives fight alone.

Numbers are important. The more of us that band together to help, the more power we will have to turn this tide. We should build the numbers the Democrat way, by building coalitions, but time may be short.

Democrats are professionals at taking groups of people, including political enemies, and bringing them together into coalitions to create overwhelming numbers. It is how they eke out a majority. Conservatives and Republicans do not generally do that. Each interest group fights its battles alone. We need to take this page from the Democrats and form coalitions. We have subgroups within conservatism with great talent and enthusiasm, but we never coordinate responses.

Look at how the Democrats do this. When there is a political battle, they help each other out, adding numbers to create an appearance of strength. If the issue changes, the rhetoric changes but the same people are fighting the battles. All that will change is the group taking the lead.

In the current battle over CRT in local schools, the point of the spear is the Democrat school board. Immediately, the teacher’s union steps up to assist. Racial equity groups add their strength. Academia, the source of the ideas, defends the “scholarship.”

With the judicial branch corrupted, we cannot even count on Constitutional law to protect our liberties and freedom.

Apparently the Dems missed something in Afghanistan.

“We fight locally and we fight together as one. We can be victorious.”

Don’t tell that to the trolls and other idiots here (will not mention names, but we know who they are).

The whole idea of having a country requires that people be able to come together, mutual support is the whole purpose. Republicans used to understand this. You have to be able to cooperate with enough people to have sufficient strength, and if you decline to do this you are ceding your party to people willing to act, and generally they will be acting in their own interests, not yours.

With leftists, one letter binds them all: D.

They vote for and give $$ to D — regardless of personal opinion on abortion, religion, debt, military, energy, whatever. D integrates them.

R, on the other hand, is just a reference letter. Personal opinion segregates them by issue. R’s use many litmus tests, and that make Rs lose.

We know a lot of Ds hold their nose when they vote, just like many Rs. But, I think many more Rs won’t vote because of a smell.

As for local action, D people are much much more on social media than (generally older) Rs. As we know, social media demonizes and minimizes R content and movements. This is a big factor, to me.

The democrats have a huge advantage, namely, they are all paid by the taxpayers and they do their coalition building while being paid by taxpayers to do so. Republicans must first work their full time job, or give up their retirement and then build after they have expended all their personal energy.

Having umpteen million people on the government payroll, and they are all mostly aligned, and they cannot be fired , and they are not held accountable for their actual job....well, how can we compete?

Democrats build coalitions. Republicans join Democrat coalitions.

Fixed it.

The problem with this is that the Left is also libertarian, trans, pro-abortion, legalizing drugs, and worse, these are all libertarian ideas.

To my way of thinking, the thing to organize around is gratitude to our country, and working together to keep it a going concern. Populism. The liberals can be pulled away from the heartless, selfish Left. They can be pulled to a coalition of the middle, but they aren’t going to be pulled to the middle by pro-life, NRA, and free-marketers, Right libertarianism. Interestingly enough, both sides of the abortion issue are libertarian.

Populism not yet more polarized left and right libertarianism.

Republicans ‘go it alone’ because nobody from center-left onwards is willing to work with Republicans.

Heck, “defund the police” is also libertarian. We need to come back to the center, not try to build lego coalitions with increasingly toxic fringe.

Leave us alone or we’ll kill you is far more effective. That’s still on the table.

Leave us alone and we’ll still kill you is too.

No, everything went precisely according to plan: another country falls entirely (back) into Islamic hands. Which will give it to China.
For some odd reason, US commies think that if they ally now with other totalitarian ideologies to kill capitalism and individual identity, they can repeat what the Bolsheviks did when they had conquered Russia and could turn on the Menchaviks. Since they have total disdain for Christianity, they think they can ignore the pull of all religions.
Uh, I think I’m expecting them to “think”. My booboo.
This is not a disaster to BeijingBiden. It was in the memo from the CCP.

WE, conservatives, cannot win if we are unwilling to take the fight to the MSM and any politico willing to get on stage and give a speech. If all we do is speak to neighbors, we will become that odd guy down the block who goes on and one about crabgrass.
One-on-one is a losing strategy.

Go after all of them. Every time.

The weakness of aloneness is demonstrated with regard to 2A proponents. So tens of millions of Americans own arms, but there is no coordination with others who own them. So on that day, they will perish one at a time.

I don’t disagree with most of what the author is saying, but let’s just acknowledge two things:

1. The democrats lie like rugs to the various coalitions. They couldn’t possibly do all the things they say they will for a particular coalition without hurting another coalition. So their efforts are just words, nothing more.

2. As PT Barnum once said: “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Didn’t Libertarian’s as a party recently go through some upheaval?

My State does have some very active Libertarian’s, but they got that way because of the Republican Party.

Thanks for the comments addressing Libertarian ideas.
