From day 1 Afghanistan should have been a punitive expedition.
We go in, kill everybody remotely related to Al Qaeda that we can get our hands on, along with anyone who gets in our way, stack their heads in the public square in Kandahar, then leave.
But, no, we had to nation-build - with tribal savages no less.

There is no way to build Afghanistan into a functional nation without also building Pakistan into a functional nation - Pakistan has undermined our efforts in Afghanistan since Day One, and has done it with our money.

We can't remake the entire world or lift multiple nations out of savagery. Bush was an idiot.

Yeah.. Just because it walks on two legs and has opposable thumbs doesn't make it civilized..

You can show them what civilization looks like, and try to teach how to act civilized.. But in the end, all you get is a bunch of democrats..
