” ADE could be the reason why the vaccinated are being infected by the delta variant”
It could be, and I sure hope we don’t see it. It could be because delta sugar-coated itself to fool the immune system, too, tricky little bugger. If we start seeing breakthroughs in younger age groups that require hospitalization, then it’s time to sweat.
The current ‘confirmed cases’ (ever infected) in the US is pretty much 10% of the pop. Otoh, there’s a 1 in 1,300 risk of a breakthrough infection, averaged across ages, and the number of breakthroughs requiring hospitalization is very small:
NBC news reported that only 10K of of 125K breakthroughs required hospitalization, or 0.08% of 0.08%:
“ According to NBC “ 125,682 “breakthrough” cases in 38 states found by NBC News represented less than 0.08% of the 164.2 million-plus people (and counting) who have been fully vaccinated since the start of the year, or about one in every 1,300.”
Mass reports 100 total breakthrough deaths, average age 82, as of July 30, amounting to 0.002% of the total vaccinated in that state.
According to the Minnesota Dept of Health (also Oregon and Mass) “the median age of breakthrough cases that have resulted in hospitalization is 74.” So the same immune compromised population challenged with a stronger virus.
Fox reports CDC reported on July 26 “Out of the 6,587 cases, 1,263 vaccinated people died “ speaking of hospitalized cases. Again, in contrast to 160M vaccinated.

How is the sugar coating of the Delta variant different from the sugar coating this coronavirus had always had?
