We’ve had a our office open for a long time now on a “voluntary” basis. We are using this period to determine who really values their employment with us. It has been eye opening to say the least. For the first time in my management career I am actually looking forward to cutting some people soon.

Yep, in my case we are supposed to return to the office full time after Labor Day. I just may not even show up at all. Various excuses will ensue until management gets around to firing me. Probably take a month or two. Not to worry, I've got enough money to retire ;-)

WOW. That is an interesting perspective. Are you saying that a person's work ethic and productivity do not count as much as "butts in seats"?
I've been working remote since March 2020 and worked remote on many projects since 1992 (before public internet). My work productivity and output were all that I have been judged on. If a person't productivity is not where it should be then that person should be spoken to individually and not paint all employees with the broad stroke "who values employment with us". Every team I've worked on is MORE productive (by 30-100%) working remote. We typically work longer hours and are always available.
Of course there will be individuals who do not have the discipline to work without direct supervision. Those people should be dealt with individually.

My office in NH has been opened since March 1st.
We recently let a woman go because she did not want to come back to the office. She was not getting her job done at home. She has three kids to watch. She posted a lot on Facebook all the things she was doing with her kids. Good for her. Now, she is unemployed. She had worked here for 10 years.

We have hired two other office staff people in the last year.

There is another woman that is on leave because her daughter has a drug problem. Prior to that her dad was dying. She has been in the office about 10 days in the last year.

There are just some people that will take advantage of a situation if they can.

Typical Shiitehead I would never have anything to do with, in any capacity.

If you valued your employees, you wouldn’t require them to get The Jab. You would FIRE those that wanted to push everyone else to get it.
You want it? Get it. You wanna mask, wear it? You wanna try and come to an agreement on alternative work/site/place/setting/hours/days etc . . .? Been with us a while? Good work record? if it’s possible, and you can make still money for us, sure let’s talk about it.

Jab or Job is Nazi tactics.

The lines are being clearly drawn
It’s time to choose.

How about cutting expenses for real estate ?? If productivity is unchanged, why pay for unused office space ?
