Dan Crenshaw is making some excellent points about that on Fox this morning. He said the cost to benefit to keeping Bagram and a small force were a good option when you considered having a base in the a few hundred miles from Pakistan, China, Iran, and also to keep a ‘free terror state’ in the area from forming to foment another 9/11. He pointed out that no American soldier had been killed there in 18 months. Biden ‘screwed the pooch’ big time on his abandonment of Trump’s plan to withdraw in stages in a calm, planned manner. What we saw were people hanging off of C-130’s to try to leave. At least in Vietnam they only hung off of helicopter rails while they lifted off.
Sadly, he’s retired. Otherwise we could parachute the valiant, CIB-wearing INFANTRY officer Alexander Vintman into Tabul to save the day,
Does General Milley even know this is happening? I think he is solely focused on introducing political correctness into the military to ruin it.
Will China take over Bagram air base, either directly running it or indirectly funding it?

We all know that Eisenhower had written a prepared statement to be issued in case the invasion failed - which it almost did, particularly at Omaha Beach.
It was a mea culpa, taking full responsibility for the failure and placing all the blame for it on himself.
But... the thing that the biographers have never told us, the thing that we were supposed to either figure out for ourselves, is... it was Eisenhower's suicide note, if the situation called for it.
Fortunately it didn't work out that way. But Ike had planned to do the honorable thing. He wasn't gonna be here to step up to some radio network's microphone and say some hsit. He was gonna leave a note saying what he needed to say, but he wasn't gonna be there.
He was a flawed man just like any of the rest of us, and the history being written about his generalship in WWII isn't always kind in hindsight.
But on that day he was prepared to take all the blame upon himself, with finality.
Just sayin'.
