You’re right - I had to ditch a friend of 45 years. Since then we’ve made over a dozen new friends to replace him. No regrets.
Duly noted, thank you. In this case, I am choosing, for the moment, to stay close enough to them to be confidantes while disclosing little on my side of things. I am VERY aware of what I do or say around them.
These are longtime friends, who, if we were in Nazi Germany, would surely be the ones who turned me in to the Gestapo. So I completely understand what you are saying.
It may well be that I break this friendship off with the others. For now, I’m choosing to watch and listen. If I have to make a move in the future, it will be abrupt, and hopefully under their radar.
