The Taliban is somewhat moderated now. They are not nearly as insular or parochial as 20 years ago. They are Islamic but appreciate the benefits 20 years of development have brought to Afghanistan.
Almost all of their leaders have been to Arabian gulf states and have acted as diplomats representing the Taliban as a legitimate, responsible political organization.
They’ve been exposed to pro-Western GCC politics and diplomacy and pretty much like it and want similar development for Afghanistan. They are not like the Taliban of 20 years ago and certainly not Isis.
America’s reign as the sole global superpower will be marked from the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989 to the fall of the US Embassy in Kabul on August 15, 2021.

The people on the ground there have apparently assessed the situation differently than you.
Time will tell if that’s true but I definitely see a Taliban rebrand in motion. No head chopping in the main square this week.
