True story. My grandpa was involved in a murder trial in Louisiana in 1919. I was reading newspaper accounts about it. At one point in the voire dire, the judge asked a prospective juror how long he would hold out as the lone juror if he was convinced he was right.
His answer... “as long as you feed me”.
